Seize the Sketch #18

Thank you!

I just recently bought my first bunch of Tiddly Inks digis, and this SWEET little girl was perfect for Jessica's sketch at Seize the Sketch!

Supplies: digi image from Tiddly Inks; papers from Fancy Pants; classic small oval Nesties; Spectrum Noir markers; Doodlebug Crushed Velvet flock - white & pink; button from my stash; Tumbled Glass distress ink

After colouring this little cutie, I added flocking to her costume. I do love a touchable card :) I also sponged Tumbled Glass ink around  the edge of the panel to make it pop a little more.

Here's the sketch:

The linky is open until Sunday April 27 - be sure to check out what all the gals have been up to!

Shopping our Stash #147 - Tax Man!

In honour of it being income tax deadline day in the US, Shopping our Stash is bringing you a number challenge this week! We want to see numbers on your project - I dug through to find what I think might really be the oldest number stuff in my stash. I won this collection as a prize in early 2011, and these overlays are the last of it kicking around (well, the last I can *find*)

Supplies: PTI sentiment; Brushed Corduroy distress ink; Simple Stories acetate overlays; staples

I stamped the sentiment on my white card base, and then stapled the overlays in place - one has the numbers, and one has the balloons & swirls. Easy peasy guy card!

Come & play along with our NUMBERS challenge until next Monday, April 21st hop on by & leave the rest of my teamies some love!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #245 - Sami Stamps!

Good morning! We have a fun new sketch for you to try this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and a brand-new sponsor - Sami Stamps! You can find Sami Stamps store HERE and her blog HERE.  The prize is a voucher for $12 which would equate to 3 digis of the winner's choice.

I tried a new-to-me technique, inlaid die cutting, and made the eggy panel resting behind that sweet little chick (available here)

Supplies: Sami Stamps Easter Chick digi; Memory Box egg die; Wplus9 banner die' American Crafts cardstock & patterned paper; Bic Markers; Doodlebug flower stickers; Adirondack Citrus ink; classic small circle Nesties

I had some issues getting my coloured eggs to fit well in the spaces I'd cut, likely because I'd cut over the edges of the panel & so the white card stock piece became a little too flexible - I'm looking forward to trying this again. I sponged the edges of the Easter Chick panel with Citrus ink to give it a bit more pop.

Here's the sketch, designed by Melissa:

This sketch is open until next Sunday, April 20th  - be sure to hop around & see what the rest of the team created!

Because I used a whole whack of dies on my card, I'm also entering it in the April Challenge at Stamping Sensations: dies & punches!

Playing with Easter Stencils

I still can't figure out how Blogger is making my photos look better than they do on the computer, but I will TAKE IT! While I was in Vancouver I bought some embossing paste & a couple of stencils to try out, and I am loving the messy fun! Now to branch out & try something other than just paste on paper :)

Supplies: Tim Holtz stencil; Dreamweaver embossing paste; Doodlebug stickers; American Crafts card stock; classic small oval Nesties

This was my very first stenciled background, so I trimmed along the edges whimsically to feature the parts of it I liked ;) To create the little scene, I cut out two partial green ovals and freehand cut some hills - the top one is popped up on foam tape so that the chick & bunny could be tucked behind.

This is perfect for the current Simon Says Stamp challenge to make Easter cards! And now back to my regularly scheduled (ha!) cleaning of the bathroom. I shared this on Facebook but in case you missed it, you might get a chuckle:

Connor: MOMmmmmm, can you come dry Mimi off? She's soaked!
Me: I'm cleaning the toilet right now
Connor: But she's really wet!
Me: OK, you come clean the toilet & I'll dry her off
Connor: ummmmmm....cleaning bathrooms is really not my speciality (exactly how he pronounced it, lol). I'll dry the dog.

Ah, kids are fun. Sometimes ;)

Camera Woes

Oh, my camera. I haz a sad, a big sad. I also haz three cards for the current Anything Goes challenge at Paper Smooches SPARKS, but I am most unhappy with the pictures I've managed to take. Keep your fingers crossed that when we finally get my good camera into the shop, that they can fix it! The first photo was taken with the now-ailing camera, and  the second was taken with the kids' *koff* crappy camera. The third was taken with my phone. Sigh.

The dying camera (which, somehow, uploading here it doesn't look so bad in draft....hmmm...)

Supplies: Paper Smooches kitty, 'hee', shadow, yarn ball & paw print stamps; CTMH haha! stamp; Unity 'you.are.old' stamp; Spectrum Noir markers; Memento Tuxedo Black & Gray Flannel inks; distress inks in Evergreen Boughs, Spiced Marmalade, and Tumbled Glass; WPlus9 banner die; classic small circle Nesties

The kids' camera:

Supplies: Paper Smooches birdie, puhleeze! stamps; AC Thickers; Bic Markers; MME paper

My phone:

Supplies: Paper Smooches Zoo Crew; Bic markers; AC Thickers; Recollections pleated ribbon; MME papers; Corner Chomper

It took me a long time to be happy with the photos I was taking - and now that I'm not, I'm kind of surprised at how upset I am about it! I haven't wanted to sit at my desk & make much, and I'm having a most unladylike snit about the whole thing. Oh well. I'm not much of a lady anyhow ;)

Shopping our Stash #146 - Pieces of April

This week at Shopping our Stash we want you to revisit a technique that I know I hadn't done in a while - paper piecing! I used to do so much of it, and now that I'm happier with my colouring I've been doing more of that. It took me a while to think of what I wanted to do!

Supplies: stamps from Paper Smooches; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; MME papers; stickers from Doodlebug; classic small oval Nesties

Surprisingly (to me) I don't have many Easter sentiments, so adding the eggs & jelly beans 'Easters' up this card :)

So, ready to do some paper piecing?  Come & play along with this challenge until next Monday, April 14th hop on by & leave the rest of my teamies some love!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #244 - Sweet N Sassy Stamps!

Good morning! It's twist week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and that means that we want to see you use the sketch along with the twist of RAINY DAYS. Perfect for the month of April! To win you must use both the sketch & the twist - but if you skip the twist you are still eligible for a spot in the top 5 :)

Our sponsor this week is the always fabulous Sweet N Sassy Stamps, and they're having a release on Friday - did you see they have matching dies? *want*

This is one of the last pictures I'll be happy with for a while - my camera appears to have something horribly wrong with it, overexposing all the shots & horizontal distortion lines across every bleeding image. Off to the shop it goes, and enter my phone as camera for a bit. Sigh.

Supplies: stamps from Market Street Stamps; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; 1 1/8" circle punch; Distress inks: Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves; yellow embroidery floss, paper piercer, needle

The saddest, saddest sun ever.

Here's the sketch:

This sketch is open until next Sunday, April 13th  - be sure to hop around & see what the rest of the team created!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #5 - Q is for QUEEN!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

I'm still awfully happy to be home - even though while I was gone, the new dog redecorated my kitchen by ripping up half the floor....it was a crappy floor anyway ;) And luckily I got enough crafty time this week to be ready for this fortnight's Snarky Sisters challenge!

Wait until you see the AWESOME cards my snarky sisters made! Totally, utterly hilarious :)

Supplies: stamps from Unity; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; papers from Basic Grey; Labels 4 Nesties; Prismacolor pencils; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; funky gems from a dollar store

If you'd like to get your royal snark (or sweet!) on with us, the linky will be open until Friday April 18th, and you should definitely go check out what the other Sisters have been up to:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #243 - Sunflowerfield Designs!

Better late than never! My trip home was eventful, of course - even the delayed flight until Friday almost didn't get me home, because the first plane was delayed. I cried when they held the second flight - there wouldn't have been another flight home until Monday!

At any rate, I got out some of my new goodies & played with this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch, and came up with this cutie-pie Easter card:

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock; Doodlebug Easter stickers; classic small oval Nesties; alphabet soup die from Memory Box (those cute little pink 'happy' letters!)

Our sponsor this week is Sunflowerfield Designs, and they are offering a choice of prizes to this week's winner - check out the TMS blog for the full details!

Here's the sketch, drawn up by Debbie:

This sketch is open until next Sunday, April 6th  - be sure to hop around & see what the rest of the team created!

and this week we have a guest designer, Tracey Mowbray, who's on the Sunflowerfield DT!
