Playing in Paradise #90 - Nautical Things

Happy Friday! This week at Playing in Paradise Nina is our hostess, and she's challenging us to use a nautical theme in our projects.
I find nautical images to be one of my go-to standards for masculine cards, and I haven't deviated from that here:
Supplies: paper from My Mind's Eye;
Memento Gray Flannel ink;
sentiment from Annabelle Stamps;
image from The Graphics Fairy;
paper piercer, needle, and embroidery floss;
Tonic edge distresser (LOVE THIS TOOL!)

A closer look at the stitches & gently distressed edges
A couple of cross-stitches in opposite corners provides some balance with the detailed image without overwhelming it - and gives some embellishment without weight or taking away from the masculine feel.
What can you create with a nautical feel? Share it with us over at Scrapbooker's Paradise by next Thursday, November 1st, for a chance to win a great prize!

Don't forget to see what the other Paradise designers have been up to:

xoxo,
Jessi

Great masculine card and stitches on both corners indeed balanced it off!

Hi Jessi,

Ohhh I LOVE that graphic, I've used it for some projects too. I had a hoot of a time last night joining a twitter party with Karen from Graphics Fairy last night in fact!

Your card is FABULOUS - like its totally frame-able!

Blessings,
Barb

With boaters in the family, it's always handy to have a nautical card or two in the stash. I really like the vintage look of this one!

You can never go wrong with a good old ship and blue on a masculine card. FACT - Did you know that men don't even look at the front of a card? Well, I'm sure our husbands know that they must look... otherwise their next week won't be worth living!

Gorgeous card! I too seem to do either lighthouses or other nautical themes for masculine cards. Only thing else is maybe wolves or lions! LOL

Another gorgeous image, and you are right...they are a fantastic go to image for the "dreaded man card" and this is a beauty....if you may combine those words with masculinity! :-) Well done my friend! You make it look easy!
