The challenge this week at little red wagon is to incorporate trees into your design. I have a serious love for Stampin' Up's Lovely as a Tree set, particularly the group of trees. Since I've used one of my crocheted mats, I'm also popping this in for a second entry in Moxie Fab's "Frame by Frame" Tuesday Trigger.
Supplies: Stampin' Up "Lovely as a Tree;" sentiment from PTI; paper from Memory Box; Vintage Photo distress ink; Gray Flannel Memento ink; standard and lacy circle Nesties; mat crocheted by me
I've been playing around with sponging ground underneath the trees, but this time I decided to use a waterbrush and paint a little bit of Gray Flannel ink in the ground area. Memento inks are not the best for this, but I think it turned out OK :)
Another card for the little red wagon tree challenge - my first Lithuanian card! One of my most faithful customers requested a get well card for his uncle, and thought his uncle would get a kick out of the greeting being in his native Lithuanian.
Supplies: papers from Echo Park; tree stamp from Lovely as a Tree; Peeled Paint distress ink; letter stickers: grey from Jillibean Soup, green from Basic Grey
Ken wanted the card to be simple, and mailable, so I've popped the panel up on a single layer of foam tape, and for a bit of interest I wove a strip of quilling paper through slits cut along the grid pattern. That was harder than I thought it would be, but I do love how it turned out!
Here's the Trigger photo with those GORGEOUS crocheted frames:
...and here's a funny for you.
I keep a box of tea bags on the counter. Tucked away, behind the chopping boards & sugar canister. It's been there for a while, but the tea bags are individually wrapped. No one in the house regularly drinks tea, but I've been steadily using it up. In fact, on Friday I made a cup of tea for a guest. This morning Riley asked for a cup of tea as he's got a sore throat.
No tea.
Rob threw it out, because apparently "No one uses that. It was just sitting there!"
Rob & I have a very traditional breakdown of household chores, because I don't work outside the home. If he put away dishes, I would probably have a stroke. So suddenly he gets a wild hair to weed out things he doesn't think are being used? He works 60+ hours a week....I'm not sure what he thinks happens when he's not at home, but I just wonder if because he never saw anyone make tea, he figured that it just sat there? And he got ALL the tea, by the way. Husbands. Humph. lol!

Jessi

Beautiful crocheted mat on that first card--love how the paper, the mat and the stamped image complement each other so well!
Thanks for playing along with us (twice) at LRW!!
LOL! Bad Rob!! I must confess I've done that to Luis once or twice. "That stuff was in the fridge for aaaaaages, babe! I figured you'd forgotten about it..."
Nice shading under the trees and I love that patterned paper!
The Lithuanian card is awesome! The woven quilling paper is such a cool touch!
Hey Jessi! Thanks again for linking up to this week's Tuesday Trigger in the Moxie Fab World! :)
These are beautiful!! I love the DP and crocheted mat on the first one!! You're awesome... you craft in Lithuanian!!
Beautiful card for Moxie. I was tempted to use one of your beautiful crocheted frames for it myself, but it felt like stealing your thunder. I'm saving them for some ME projects or for close and dear people.
Cute Lithuanian card too! I'm going to have to Babelfish the saying to figure it out. LOL That is really cool!
SO you have one of those husbands too? Mine works about 60 hours too and I've always been stay at home but with a homebased job too. Isn't it amazing how they seem to think until they want to pay attention to something it doesn't exist and other times everything is miraculously done by house fairies? LOL! Mine goes in spurts to "help" put things away and then it takes me weeks to find things.
Got to love them though!
Both cards are fantastic! Your shadowing looks awesome from here! My fave way to add shadows has to be prisma pencils, I found it too difficult with copics and inks.
Sigh, another challenge I meant to get to. I even knew which frames I was going to use. Oh Well, enough about me. :D
Your first card is so serene and beautiful! (If you're inking the cardstock centre of your mat, how do you keep the crocheted part clean?)
Wow, a perfect Lithuanian get well card -- you are so versatile.
The trees look fabulous with your crochet.
Your cards are getting multilingual, Jessi!
My DH only comes home in the weekend and off on the weekdays again!
Beautiful tree cards...your crocheting is amazing! I always wanted to do that, but really havn't graduated past the single crochet...and I don't do that well because I mess up my turns...ack!
P.S.
I would probably drop over if my hubby helped out...LOL
Another beautiful crochet mat! I love love how it frames the scene perfectly! Your second card is beautiful too with the gorgeous paper in the background! Love it!
