Playing in Paradise #53 - Musically Inspired!

THERE IS NO WAY I'M GONNA BE LATE THIS WEEK, I said to myself after blowing last week's PIP deadline by only a couple of hours....so yay me, there's nearly 2 days left! And besides that, I have two cards to share. For For Playing in Paradise #53 you've got to be ....
Supplies: gorgeous brolly paper from MME (from dear sweet Emily!);
cardstock from MFP; standard oval & labels 4 Nesties;
stamps from Market Street Stamps;
Palette Noir ink; versamark & clear EP (raindrops);
Offray ribbon, Bow-Easy, loads of foam tape;
3/4" circle punch for ribbon 'tabs'

I received a care package from Emily  the week before last, and as soon as I saw this pattern I knew I had to finally break in my sad face sun from Market Street Stamps. If the song isn't already playing in your head, this sentiment is (well, I imagine it is, anyway) inspired by Bill Withers' 'Ain't No Sunshine.' And it plays in my head every time I look at the sentiment...

 And here's a happy sun, too. I freehanded the placement of the rays (and the cutting...and the angles...) but let's just all agree that I was going for the whimsical (didn't measure) look. Ahem.
Supplies: fun patterned paper from MME (from Emily again!);
cardstock from MFP;
stamps from Studio G; Palette Noir ink;
coloured with Sharpies & coated with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic;
standard circle Nesties; Spiced Marmalade distress ink for the edge

Shiny!
So although the card (and this sun) are happy, here's the thing - up until the soundtrack for "O Brother Where Art Thou" came out, I had no idea that this was a sad song. I'd only ever heard the first verse.

And I know it's not the Soggy Bottom Boys that sing this version, but wouldn't you rather look at George Clooney? Thought so.

And now for something completely different:

HELLO!
I thought I'd show you all what I get to look at while I'm taking pictures. I tend to sit back from the desk while I do that, so there's about 6 inches for Abby to crawl into. LOTS OF ROOM. This is also why it takes 6-8 shots to get one that's mostly not fuzzy....

What, there's lots of room. Whiner.

Supplies: striped paper from Bella Blvd;
cardstock from MFP; lacey circle & labels 4 Nesties;
chipboard cupcake from Martha Stewart;
sentiment from Kaisercraft; London Fog Memento ink;
Colorbox Frost White ink (swiped on green piece);
spots & dots Cuttlebug folder; Sakura Stardust glitter pen

Who wants to look at cards anyhow? PET ME.

Seriously, aren't you done yet? SIGH.
Oh, I love my goofy dog.
By the way, that little sore spot on her nose? That's from trying to bury a particularly delicious bone in her kennel blanket...with her nose. Again.
Back from that (admittedly awesome) digression to remind you that you have until NOON. NOON. NOON. on Thursday (not that I'd ever mess up the time, you see) February 16th to link up for this challenge.

Happy Valentine's Day, by the way! For a couple that doesn't generally celebrate it, I got myself spoiled this morning. Not sure how that happened! Flowers, chocolates (yes, I was bad, and yes, I already ate some...sigh), and a lovely pair of earrings.

xoxo,
Jessi
