(early) Friends with Flair!

I'll come back to edit this tomorrow with the direct link to this week's Friends with Flair post over at Unity, (DONE!) but I thought I'd get ahead & share my card now, as well as some pics from the Pride Parade last weekend. As a disclaimer, Rob was the one holding the camera during the parade...we wouldn't necessarily have taken the same photos!

First up here's my card, so you can skip the pics if you're not interested:
Supplies: papers from Basic Grey "Konnichiwa;"
sentiment stamp from Unity (from sweet Emily!);
Barn Door distress ink;
beads & embroidery thread from stash
I've only used one stamp, the sentiment stamp. The lantern was made by scoring every 1/8 inch on a circle die cut, and accordion folding. I didn't cut the original circle but emphasized the top & bottom by beading over them once the lantern piece was glued down. I made a mini-tassel, and sewed the 'hanging string' at the top. The tassel looked kind of naked so after adhering everything I decided to add a couple of beaded strings. That was probably the longest part, adding those without messing up anything else! One good thing about having been into so many crafts (and not throwing anything away) is that I still have lots of colours of beads & thread to play with should I feel like adding them to a card.

Onto those pictures...there were over 200 on the camera when we got home, but not a single one where you could see, say, the face of a family member? Sigh. Here's the best one of Abby all dolled up - she was a trooper, especially considering the dozens of dogs IN the parade:
She's got her kerchief on, and we were both wearing leis handed out during the parade. She declined the Mardi Gras beads, though (maybe she was too modest to GET them?)
Hands-down the coolest float was for the art gallery - there were people inside the frames, stretching into different poses:

And a general assortment of fun stuff:

Fairly sure that you can click on these for a full-size view should you be brave enough! The guy in the rainbow skirt & huge wig...and high heels...and it was well over 30 Celsius, hot & sunny.

Alrighty, time to start thinking about supper - it took me a while to sift through all those pics!
xoxo,
Jessi
