We're so thrilled with the turnout for our very first Snarky Sisters challenge - thanks so much for coming to play with us! Continuing with our alphabet-inspired theme, this week is brought to you by the letter U - as in, unused. We want you to dig out something you've never used, or haven't used in a looooooong time (and make sure you tell us what it is!)
As a quick aside - you don't always have to be snarky to join in with us! Snark is always welcome, but it's not required :)
I think I can speak for most crafters when I say - the challenge with an "unused" challenge is deciding what to use. I have a terrible habit of buying things because they're on sale, without always thinking through to the "will I use it?" criteria. That, and buying mystery boxes. They're always worth it (I've never been disappointed) but that doesn't mean I use it all, either.
All that to get around to - this Stampendous flower, which has been in my stash for a minimum of 2 years & has never seen ink. The enamel accents haven't been around quite as long, since November, but still. I NEEDED THEM, you'd think I might have used them by now!
Supplies: Stampendous stamps; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Bic Markers; prismacolor pencils; Ranger enamel accents
The flower was stamped on a kraft panel, intended to be the card front. That worked out, as you can see {sigh}. The markers weren't as intense on kraft as I had hoped, so I added some Prismacolors to brighten it up, and then fussy-cut the flower out. And then the enamel, which in true Jessi fashion I did a bit of, and then some more, and then just barfed on ALL THE DOTS EVERYWHERE OMG LOOK MUCH DOTS SO MANY. very exciting.
(It's possible I've had too much coffee already.)
ANYWAY
In our crystal balls we can see you have crafty stuff you're not using, so join us, won't you? The linky will be open until Friday March 7, and you should go check out what the other Sisters have been up to:
xoxo,
Jessi
Oh Jessi, you are so funny, it is an adventure reading your blog. love how you barfed the dots all over the flower. lol. super card, love that Sunflower. I have a few of those BIG stamps and they don`t seem to get used very often. It could be the coffee or the dash of ADHD. Awesome creation.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love the kraft on white!! And you just the right amount of dots!! Lol I love it! Nice and CAS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nicely dot barfed CAS card! LOL! OMG! Soooo glad I wasn't taking a sip of my tea when I read that! I love the kraft flower on the white background - really makes the flower pop off the front!
ReplyDeleteStill laughing at the barfed on dots, but I must say they look stunning. Beautiful card! xxD
ReplyDeleteGREAT card, GREAT Post... And THANKS for making me spit coffee all over my screen AGAIN (she says sarcastically) grin... LOVE The BARFED-ON Dots... Bigger Grin.. and I like the flower against the white background... super great CAS card - TFS
ReplyDeleteBarfed the dots?????? LOL!!! I love all of them! They really make that beautiful flower stand out. Glad you finally used it because it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLynn
love it! I am sure I have a few stamps (ahem more like dozens) that have never been used.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I LOL'd over the dot barf -- and yet, you really did add just the right amount! And what? You haven't been using your enamel accents on animal noses, as I always seem to NEED to? A beautiful, non-snark card... because really, why would WE have unused snarky stuff anyway?
ReplyDeletewow so pretty with all that bling...tfs
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of barfed on dots :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the kraft on white...so purty!
And then you just barfed dots all over. Sorry but I giggled until I snorted over that. I have something unused that I bought just to use with the Snarky Sisters (and for other snarky/silly occasions) so that is unused. I hope it is okay that it isn't even a week old yet.
ReplyDeleteTo your card--I forgot how fun coloring on kraft can be (and how frustrating if you don't get the right colors). Kraft makes the perfect sunflower as do ALL THOSE DOTS.
Hi Jessi. Love that you on the DT for Snarky Stampers ... hehe :0)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sunflower and those enamel dots are the perfect addition, they look like molten metal!!!
Hope you're all keeping well xx
Oh, my gosh--I just loved reading your description of how this card evolved, Jessi! Thanks for the giggles! But the laughter aside, I'm so in love with how it turned out. That sunflower is gorgeous--and the barfed-on enamel dots really make it shine :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my, I'm giggling over your barfed up sea of dots so it's hard to type! Honestly, Jessi, this turned out great! Slap your forehead, sister, for not using that stamp before now!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteSometimes cards evolve in the most unexpected ways... and this one came from your gut ... and I love it!
ReplyDeletexxx Asha - Sunny Summer Crafts
I seriously don't want to think about all the items in my stash that have not been used or stamps that have not seen ink. For reals. Sad! Need more time in the day and now I need to hurry up and get well. Taking way to darn long!
ReplyDeleteNow you can see that you really did "have to have them" as they made a fabulous card! Love it, Jessi!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. Vee ss
