Merry Christmas at the Paper Players

I'm not usually one for colour challenges, but I just bought the perfect stuff to play along with The Paper Players this week!

Supplies: die cuts from Simple Stories; banner dies from Wplus9; scrap vellum; Tim Holtz design ruler & embroidery supplies

I cut some of the die-cut banners in half, attached them with double-sided tape, and then stitched everything into place. Ta-da!
I've been crafting up a storm for the first Christmas sale this Friday, so I'll have lots to share later in the week :)

New Images at Bugaboo!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Tuesday is new release day at Bugaboo, and ERMAGERD you need this puppy! Check out the new releases here.

Supplies: Reindeer Dog digi stamp from Bugaboo; Spectrum Noir markers; papers from stash; classic small oval Nesties; Wink Of Stella clear glitter pen; Cuttlebug embossing folder;  Paper Smooches kraft twine; bells from the dollar store

I printed out two copies of the image so that I could pop up the puppy's face. The bells are highlighted with Wink Of Stella glitter, and the bells are sewn on along with the bow.

Shopping Our Stash #177 - NOT ready for Christmas!

I'm late, I'm late...sorry!
This week at Shopping our Stash, we're admitting that we're not quite ready to surrender to ALL CHRISTMAS ALL THE TIME just yet. We want you to use Christmas stamps for a non-Christmas project!

Supplies: Fluffles stamp from Stampendous; sentiment stamps from Paper Smooches Slang Gang; Spectrum Noir markers; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Tumbled Glass distress ink

In its full glory!

I used washi tape to mask off the Christmas sentiment - so easy, since you can tuck the washi in around the parts you want un-inked. Just remember to take the tape off before you stamp. I don't want to talk about it.

Surely you're not ready for Christmas either - so join us before next Monday,November 17th!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #275 - Digital Delights by Louby Loo!

ACK I'M LATE!  Sorry about that! I was up at the crack of not-yet-dawn, and thought I'd go back & lay down for a bit....and the next thing I knew it was four hours later.

Welcome to my late late post for Tuesday Morning Sketches - this week we're sponsored by Digital Delights by Louby Loo, and it's also TWIST WEEK! That means this time we want to see Pumpkins and Leaves (perfect with Thanksgiving coming up in the US).

I got to feature the super adorable Acorn Mouse on my card:

Supplies: Acorn Mouse digi stamp from Digital Delights by Louby Loo;  Spectrum Noir markers; papers &  gems from stash

Hard to capture the gems' true colour - they're a rich orange!

Nina's designed a great CAS sketch for us this week:

This challenge is open until next Sunday, November 16th hop on over & see what the design team has created for you!

Bluebird Birthday

Thank you so much for visiting - I appreciate each & every one of you!

When I approach a photo inspiration challenge, I make notes on what I'm drawn to in the photo. This week at The Pink Elephant they've got this photo:

My notes were: music notes, burlap, fall bouquet, white weathered wood.

The card that I made was directly inspired by three of those, even though it doesn't bear a large resemblance to the photo.

Supplies: Bluebird sticker from Penny Black; burlap ribbon from Stampin Up; wood veneer paper from MME; Colorbox Frost White pigment ink; white detail EP; gems from Dollarama; tag die from Cuttlebug; sentiment from Annabelle Stamps; Dusty Concord & Broken China distress ink; feather, button,  & fabric from stash

I picked up a few sheets of Penny Black stickers last week, and I love the detail they have (and that they help make a quick card...sometimes. Not this one. lol) The music notes on this one made me think of it for this challenge, and the bird made me think of the Fowl of All Kinds challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun - a two-fer!

To create the 'weathered wood' I went back to my 'didn't buy enough' wood veneer, and swiped it with white ink. I decided to emboss it after  that to avoid smudging (not sure how it would dry on the veneer). It ended up a little more solidly coloured than I intended. The burlap was cut along one side to allow me to fray it a little bit. The blue fabric began as a 6" square, and I frayed the edges & heated it with my heat tool to melt it a little for a more intense colour & texture. I was really happy with how this turned out!

Monsters!

So I've sent you over to visit Becca at The Damsel of Distressed Cards before....she is mad talented with paper & ink, and a super funny & kind bloggy gal (why aren't you following her yet? Go do it!). And guess what? She decided to start a featured blogger feature (I tried, that's the word. lol) and asked me if I'd be her first - bet she's a little sorry about that now ;) We decided to both case one of my favourite cards, and WAIT until you see what she did! I love it! (and she's got a little something for a lucky commenter...seriously, get over there!)

Here's the card we CASEd:

I kept thinking I would be inspired by the sentiments, or the colours...and instead I just kept making monster cards!

Supplies: MONSTAH! journaling cards from Bo Bunny; sentiments from Paper Smooches; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Wink of Stella black pen; Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder; MFT stars die; googly eyes

Supplies: stamps from Daisy Bucket; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Bic marker; Versamark & ZING EP; monsters journaling cards from Bo Bunny (striped paper); googly eyes

Supplies: papers from Fancy Pants; monster sticker from K&Co; sentiment from Crafty Secrets; Wplus9 banner die; Corner Chomper; labels 5 Nesties

So now that you've seen my monstah blitz, head on over to Becca's blog & see what terrible things I said, and her awesome card! Thanks so much for lifting my spirits, Becca!

Freebie Friday at Bugaboo!

It's Friday! And that means a new freebie over at Bugaboo, thanks to the generous Jodie. You are definitely going to want to snag this little fella, Marshmallow Snowman - Candy Cane:

Supplies: Marshmallow Snowman - Candy Cane digi from Bugaboo; Spectrum Noir markers; paper from MME; classic small oval Nesties; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; Diamond Stickles; googly eyes

I printed out two copies of the snowman, and coloured & cut out the body of the second image to pop it up for some dimension. I added gloss to the carrot nose & little heart, and lots of Diamond Stickles for a snowy sparkle.

Make sure you pop on over to Catch the Bug to see what the others have done with this adorable image, and then head on over & pick it up for yourself for free :)

Since both snowmen and candy canes give me joy, I'm entering this over at Creative Card Crew's Christmas Joy challenge.

Rustic Quilled Snowflake

Remember last week's Merry Monday card? Well, here's the snowflake that I made, finally on a card. This week's challenge is Rustic Christmas, and the wood paper I picked up on the weekend made a perfect base.

Supplies: wood paper from MME; oval pearls from ancient stash; quilled snowflake made by me

Simple and pretty! This card measures 5.25" square.

I can already tell I'm going to regret only buying one sheet of wood! I ordered more quilling paper last week & it just arrived, so with any luck I'll have some more fun stuff to show you :)

Christmas Critters!

I've been playing along with the Jingle Belles all year, and thus I'm not panicked about having enough cards ready for the Christmas season. OK, well, not AS panicked. I wouldn't be me if I didn't panic. This first card is also for the Kraft Journal Critters challenge.

Supplies: patterned papers from Crate Paper; mouse rub-on from Royal Langnickel; SRM sticker sentiment; classic small oval Nesties

Supplies: digi from Aurora Wings; Spectrum Noir markers; papers from Bo Bunny; Sew Easy; buttons from stash; Wink Of Stella black glitter pen; Picket Fence distress stickles; Opal liquid pearls; Tumbled Glass distress ink; classic small circle Nesties

Our weekend getaway included a stop at Carsand Mosher (a scrapbooking store) and I picked up a few new Christmas goodies to play with, including this fun Bo Bunny paper and black & clear Wink Of Stella pens. Yahoo!
