Sunflowers

The inspiration photo for the current Curtain Call challenge is absolutely stunning - and as soon as I saw it I had ideas. Plans, big plans.

Supplies: paper from MME; 1/8" quilling paper

Supplies: stamps from Jane's Doodles; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Distress inks in Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade, Antique Linen, and Frayed Burlap; Bic Markers; Versamark pen; clear embossing powder

The quilled flower is pretty easy - the petals are made from half-length strips, and the centre from two strips joined together & rolled tightly. I use Aleene's Tacky Glue (and a toothpick, and a light light hand with the glue).

On the second card, after colouring the sunflower I coated & embossed it so that I could stamp the leaves in the background. I like the texture this gives too :)

The challenge is open until September 30th, so lots of time to play along!
xoxo,
Jessi

You can't tell me that quilled flower is 'pretty easy', now you're just showing off lol.

I've done some quilling and it isn't 'pretty easy" it's gorgeous and so is the second card great idea with the clear embossing but that must have taken some time too. I just love sunflowers. I might try my hand at the challenge.

Both are fantastic! That shiny sunflower is so lovely. Wonderful idea on the embossing like that.
Love it every time you quill! I tend to study it completely to see how that's done. So very beautiful!

Your paper quilling is fantastic!! I tried it (very unsuccessfully) so I don't buy that it was "easy".
Both cards are stunning! TFS

The quilling is pretty easy, she says... for you, perhaps. ;) Two perfect sunflower cards.

Two fantastic cards! I love the sunflowers. They grow on the side of the road around my house. The glossy accents really brighten the colors on your second card. Cheers from Oklahoma!
