Oh, deer.

I edited yesterday's post to reflect the change, but I thought I'd fess up here too: my yard visitors were pheasants. Jenny, Jen, and Therese's comments made me think "Um, am I sure they're quail?" ... and no, they're not. But I swear, that's what they're called around here! Foolish, because quail are most definitely NOT anything like pheasants in looks, but anyway. I do still stand by my statement that the pheasants aren't smart. Ahem. (Pot, meet kettle...)

PHEASANT
So not the same, people of Amherst.

Supplies: Papers from Basic Grey "Lauderdale" and "Sweet Threads;"
sun stamp from Market Street Stamps;
cloud stamps from The Greeting Farm;
Memento London Fog ink;
deer & tree diecut & foam sticker from Walmart kit;
letter beads from stash; letter stickers from Basic Grey;
yellow embroidery floss for sun's rays; spots & dots Cuttlebug embossing folder;
Sakura clear glaze pen; Stampendous Fun Flock in Cotton Ball
<whew> that felt like a lot of supplies. This card was just fun from start to finish. The hills are cut freehand, with the darker green layer popped up on foam tape & the foam tree tucked in behind that layer. The sun & clouds are popped up as well, and the sun & letters are covered with the clear glaze pen.
Oooh, shiny!
I stamped the sun from Market Street Stamps in London Fog ink so that I could stitch over the rays without having too much ink show through.

Riley's school was evacuated for "a funny smell" early this afternoon, so it's a bit of a muddle around here trying to calm him down - they had to leave without jackets, bookbags, or lunches. It doesn't look like a serious problem (a damper closed on the furnace) but for the kids it's overwhelming.

xoxo,
Jessi

What a fabulous card. I love all the curved lines and the sun is so happy. Where did you get the "baby" tag beads - they are perfect!! Totally fabulous card!!

I agree, they are not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree!
Once they fly into our garden they forget how to get out again !
Cute cute card by the way, love the collage style :)

Pheasant, quail, I'm sure they don't mind what we call them, but they are both beautiful though!
Another cute card Jessi,I love that stitched sun, you are really on a roll!

LOL! I didn't even realise I called it something different than you had! Says a lot for my reading comprehension skills huh?
I love how you stitched the rays on that super happy sun ad that you embossed the clouds. And the polka dotted sky is to die for!

Funny post, Jessi!! Thanks for the good chuckle. Regional language differences sure can be funny. Where I grew up, we called a fizzy soft drink "pop," but here in New England it is most definitely called "soda" or even worse, "tonic." Anyway, your beautiful feathered visitor is visual treat no matter what you call it!!

And your deer card? Smashing!! That is so incredibly cute. I love all the layers and the stitched ray details. The letter beads are adorable, and then, of course, your dear deer!!! Such a fun one, Jessi!

Lol... sorry I had to giggle at your quail verses pheasant comparison. Yep, so not the same.

Super fun and sweet card. I love all the bright fun colors especially during this fall season. Reminds me of spring to come. :)

Such a sweet scene you created! I am totally stealing that idea for the Lauderdale paper since I didn't know what to do with them!

Cute, cute, cute Jessi! The little scene is so adorable! I really like how you stamped the sun and stitched it. I love the freehand hills, too!

It's funny that everyone calls them quail....pheasants are our state bird, so I see them anywhere out in the country.

Glad there wasn't anything weird going on at the school. :)
