If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give. ~George MacDonald
Yesterday I planned to give thanks for friends, old and new. This week I reconnected with a truly dear friend from high school that I hadn't spoken with in a long time. Four hours' time difference, busy lives, and it's easy to let weeks slip into years. Wednesday another friend came over for dinner, and she's headed over right now for coffee & girl talk. I know that I have folks I can count on, and friends who support me, and I am a lucky person to have them.
That doesn't mean that I don't have rough days. I try not to vent too specifically here, but you know, sometimes life really sucks. Sometimes it's hard to feel happy, and to look on the bright side. Sometimes you have to do things like dedicate a week to being thankful to remind yourself of all the wonderful things that are part of your life. And sometimes you receive something so unexpected and lovely in the mail that it makes you cry.

These are fabulous!
Awwwww, Jessi, you weirdo, now you've got me scrambling to turn off *my* waterworks. I'm so glad that my note brightened your day. I like your idea of a week of thanks--sometimes we just need to be deliberate about finding our blessings or the dark clouds will take over.
Your lovely Thanksgiving cards are just that--truly lovely. I imagine you are at the Sackville Farmer's Market as I write this, and I'm wondering if these cards have already flown off your display! Wishing you a FABULOUS Thanksgiving with your family this weekend! Enjoy fixing and eating your traditional meal for the *whole* family. :)
Beautiful autumn cards! I love the rows of buttons.
Awwww...that post just makes me smile. It's like blog hugs all around :) Your cards are gorgeous--great colors, great layers, great papers. You're awesome with the patterns, my friend!
Friends are the best! And it's such a wonderful feeling to know you have friends you can count on, and that always comes from two sides, so you can be sure that you are also doing something right!!
How lovely that you had some happy mail! It's pretty and so are your other cards, love the leaves!
Hugs, Wendy
Emily sure is a stamping sweetheart! :)
Love your fun fall cards--you are really selling that leaf punch!
Thanks for making me stop and think a bit about how pretty darn good my life is. I have those "life sucks" days too and I definitely sometimes need a kick in the butt to get a grip and remember what I've got.
All three of your cards are gorgeous! I so admire your use of patterns as they normally scare me to death. You make using them look so effortless! :)
Beautiful autumnal creations! I think I like the second one best...I still don't have Indie Bloom so maybe that's why I like it!
Lovely collection of cards!!! I think the first one is my fave!
I adore your autumn cards, they are so elegant and peaceful! Such a lovely blog post, I know without my friends I'd be lost sometimes and it is so important not to take them for granted. Thank you for the reminder!
What a sweet post! What an awesome card from Emily!
And your thanksgiving cards are motivating me to do some this year too! I normally don't send out Thanksgiving cards, but you're right that we have so much to be thankful for:)
