Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - K is for...

KITTIES! Can't you totally see Edna as a crazy cat lady? Cats & snark are just made for one another, as you'll see from the super fun cards the Sisterhood made! Not me, though. I went with *gag* nice.

Supplies: Tiddly Inks cup o' kitty; Spectrum Noir & copic markers; Doodlebug doily; googly eyes; MME paper; Stampendous sentiment

Mostly because all those "x days until xmas" posts on Facebook have sent me into a panic spiral...gah! It's almost November! AUGGGGGH!

*koff*

And this week we have TWO guest designers - Leslie and Kathi! Make sure to leave them some love. Join in with your kitty project by Friday November 13 (conveniently my birthday, so I know it's already circled on your calendar!)

Shopping our Stash #225 - Go Paperless!

Wellllll only sort of. At Shopping our Stash we want to see you go PATTERNED paperless. Paperless entirely would be just....no. *shudder*

This was a super easy challenge for me, since I've become addicted to Becca's distress ink dipping technique.  To get some subtle shimmer I've been using pearl glimmer mist AND water for spritzing - if you just use glimmer mist it's a little too much (I know, too much sparkle doesn't seem like a thing).

Supplies: Stamps from Neat & Tangled; Lil Inkers stitched rectangle die; Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves, and Mowed Lawn distress inks; homemade pearl glimmer mist; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; May Arts twine; doily, feather, fabric, button from stash

Of course sparkly :) The background has shimmer too but you'll just hafta trust me on that one. The green feather was in my drawer of 'hmmm...might be useful' things, and the purple fabric is a piece of organza that I frayed & then melted with the heat gun. Organza ribbon will melt the same way as long as you take the edges off if you want to give this a whirl.

SO will you make your own background or go utterly CAS? What did the DT come up with?

Tuesday Morning Sketches #324 - All Dressed Up!

Happy Tuesday! This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we have a fab returning sponsor, All Dressed Up - you know you love those adorable images! My printer died a most sudden and shocking death - immediately after purchasing new ink cartridges, naturally *sigh* but my teamies did a great job showcasing her images!

Supplies: papers from American Crafts; sentiment stamp from Stamplorations; Evergreen Bough distress ink; Wplus9 banner die; May Arts cream twine

The embellishment cluster in the sketch was great fun to play around with:

This challenge will be open until next Sunday, November 1 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Shopping our Stash #224 - Caffeine Fix!

This week at Shopping our Stash we want to see something caffeinated - coffee, tea, you get the idea! I grabbed my oldest mug, and a tea sentiment, and made my first tea card in a loonnnnng time (coffee does have my heart, after all!)

Supplies: mug from Market Street Stamps; sentiment from Reverse Confetti; 'steam swirl' from PTI; Palette Noir ink; Versamark & clear EP; distress inks for watercolouring; papers from American Crafts; enamel dots from MME

Who doesn't love a warm cup of happy? Come see what we made:

And you have until Monday October 26 to come play!

It's been a hell of a week, personally - I was in the hospital for diabetic ketoacidosis, and am slowly adjusting to using insulin. Months of slowly rising sugars led to a spectacular surge last week, and my doctor kept saying 'better get those down' instead of making adaptations to my medication. I'm definitely looking forward to not being exhausted all the time! I won't be complacent about my diabetes again either - this was extremely scary, and the number of times I've been yelled at that "YOU COULD HAVE DIED..." I scared everyone else too. Live & learn, and I'll be a better advocate for myself - I never would have accepted this approach if it were my kids, so I shouldn't have accepted it for myself.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #323 - Di's Digis!

Good morning! We have a brand-new sponsor this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches - Di's Digis! Absolutely adorable images, and if you play with us there's a $12 voucher up for grabs.

Supplies: papers from Bo Bunny; Waltzingmouse sentiment; Versamark & white detail EP; classic small circle Nesties; buttons from stash

The butterflies were cut out of a piece of patterned paper in the Bo Bunny pack, and they were perfect for the floral elements on the sketch!

This challenge will be open until next Sunday, October 25 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Shopping our Stash #223 - I Can See Clearly

I'm not going to link the video but I *am* going to say woohoo earworm!

We want to see you use acetate this week at Shopping our Stash - make a clear card, a shaker card, use those hoarded acetate die cuts (don't try to hide it, we all have them! lol)

I found some ancient Halloween-themed confetti in my stash - and realized why I'd become disenchanted with shaker cards. Sequins and beads will actually SHAKE, this confetti becomes a static monster. Oh well, it's Halloween, sposed-ta be monsters about.

Supplies: Doodlebug paper, and a ridiculous amount of stash!

Next time I'll try throwing some sequins in as well & see if it helps!

Can you see clearly now the rain is gone? Check out what we made!

Jessi

Tuesday Morning Sketches #322 - Melissa Craig!

Good morning! Melissa is offering a $10 voucher for Simon Says Stamp to our lucky random winner this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches - you KNOW you could make good use of that! You don't have to go frilly with your interpretation of the sketch, but I did:

Supplies: Papers & butterfly from MME; Basic Grey buttons; PTI sentiment; Wplus9 banner die; Memento Gray Flannel ink; doily & burlap from stash

Here's the sketch:

This challenge will be open until next Sunday, October 18 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Sparkly Thanks!

So there's this Hop to Stop, eh? I've now added a tag (duh!) so you can access all my Hop to Stop posts in the same place for purple gloriousness!

I'm also entering this in the current Doodle Pantry challenge - finally using this gorgeous hydrangea precoloured digi I've had for ages.

Supplies: Again with the dip-dyed background - seedless preserves & broken china, plus Dylusions purple; Waltzingmouse Stamps sentiment; Hydrangea digi from Doodle Pantry; classic small circle Nesties; Liquid Pearls; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; homemade pearl glimmer mist

I printed two copies of the digi so I could selectively fussy-cut some of the blooms. I added a dab of Liquid Pearls to the centres, and traced the sentiment & circle panel with the glitter pen.

192!!! So close to 200 :)

OODLES of love!

Something just so fun about the word OODLES :) hehehe

Playing along again with the Hop to Stop - my previous posts are here, here, and here.

Supplies: Dylusions Grape spray; Gina K butterfly stamp; Waltzingmouse Stamps sentiment; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Versamark pad & pen; clear detail embossing powder; Spectrum Noir markers; Corner Chomper

So there may need to be an intervention to stop me from making these amazing Becca-inspired dip-dyed backgrounds - but they just turn out so freaking cool every dang time. And if they don't, you DIP THEM AGAIN AND IT'S AMAZING. I initially planned to stamp the background of the white panel so embossed the butterfly & sentiment...and then I changed my mind.

175 cards linked up as of right now - and a little over 2 days left to add yours!

Still Hopping to Stop!

I plan to make you a little sick of purple this week :) As I'm typing the Hop to Stop has 166 cards linked up, with three days left to add yours! This is fabulous for a first-time event - but of course the more the merrier!!! I have at least 3 more to share in the next few days.

My previous posts for the hop are here and here.

Supplies: Sweet Pea Stamps mermaid stamp; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spectrum Noir & Sharpie markers; Reverse Confetti sentiment; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; gems from Dollarama; background made with Becca's ink dipping technique, and Broken China, Seedless Preserves, Purple Dylusions spray, and homemade pearl glimmer mist.

SO SPARKLY!

Remember, the only theme to follow is PURPLE, so get at it :)

You Are Awesome!

I've been working on cards for the Hop to Stop all week, but have been slow getting them photographed and blogged (what can I say, it's more fun to MAKE the stuff!) Check out Becca's blog for all the nitty gritty details!

Supplies: Dusty Concord distress ink; Versamark & white detail EP; stamps from Neat & Tangled, PTI, and unknown

I just used the one purple ink, using generational stamping to create the different tones.

C'mon and play!! You've got until the 14th to link up :)

Shopping our Stash #222 - Birthday!

We've got an 'oldest supply' challenge for you at Shopping our Stash this week - we want you to dig out your oldest birthday stash, use it, and tell us about it!

Now, to be 100% honest, I may have older birthday stamps somewhere in the basement, but I had no intention of mounting that kind of search (mounting! stamps! not enough coffee yet! lol). This adorable stamp is definitely the oldest stamp I have in my crafty space. Even washing it with the trusty dish soap won't restore this baby's cling mount. I gave it a new twist by watercolouring it:

Supplies: flying piggy stamp from The Greeting Farm; Palette Noir ink; Distress inks for watercolouring; sentiment from Stamplorations; Paper Smooches cloud dies

I hadn't used this guy in a while because I was really out of ideas to make him different - but I love how this turned out!

So what's your oldest birthday schtuff??

The Hop to Stop.

I am so honoured to be participating in The Hop to Stop, an incredible show of support, awareness, and information spearheaded by the one & only Becca Cruger, The Damsel of Distressed.  I shared my own experience with domestic violence last October, and besides the support from the blogging community (you guys are awesome) I also learned more about my friends' stories.

For the hop, we're all creating with purple - the awareness colour for domestic violence. The theme is your choice - as long as you feature purple. I decided with my first card to also celebrate love.

Supplies: stamps from PTI; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Versamark; clear detail EP; Moonstone EP; Sakura clear glitter pen; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; Distress inks in Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire; Spectrum Noir markers

I stamped & embossed the sentiment first, and then the moon. Before embossing I tapped off the clear powder & resprinkled it with moonstone powder to get the sort of pocky moonscape look. Then I stamped & coloured the rocket, coated it with Dimensional Magic, sponged the inky background, and finally clear-embossed the stars. *whew* Lots of steps for a single layer!

Becca's blog has all the information you need to participate in the hop - and I hope you will! Link up before October 14 to join us.

Jessi
