FUSION Yeti

I can't believe it's time for the year to end - I'm looking forward to looking back on 2015 in the distance. At the moment I plan to blog a recap but for right now I'm just popping in to share this adorable Yeti card I made using FUSION's sketch:

Supplies: Yeti from From the Heart Stamps; sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas; papers from Echo Park; Martha Stewart snowflake punches; classic small oval Nesties; Spectrum Noir markers; googly eyes; banner die from Wplus9; Cotton Ball Fun Flock from Stampendous; bling from Michaels

Sparkly snowflakes and a fuzzy adorable Yeti!
Here's the FUSION graphic - and there's still 5 days to play!

The shine of the wine glass was difficult to capture, but the entire glass is covered with Dimensional Magic.

Shopping our Stash #232 - My Preciousssss - Two Week Challenge!

We all have them....time to use them. Those beautiful precious items that you hoard, never planning to actually USE them. Specialty paper? Fancy embellishments? That last piece of sumptuous lace? You know what we're talking about. Join the Shopping our Stash crew, who wiped away their tears and put those beauties to use :)

For my preciouses, I used a few. The House Mouse decoupage sheet is one of a collection I bought several years ago. I have used 3 I think? I take them out & ooooooh and then carefully put them back. I've also used some hoarded seam binding, and those glittery blue bells? I actually referred to them as "my precious" when a friend was looking through bells to use some...and no I wouldn't share those ones because I'm a terrible person lol

With any luck we're all about to get a few new craft goodies (whether or not you celebrate Christmas there are ALWAYS sales after!) so use a precious, tell us what it is, and make some room for the new goodies :) And blame the tears on being allergic to the tree or something!

Check out what my great teammates made:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #322 - Our Own Melissa!

Welcome to the annual Anything Goes challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches! No sketch for this 2 week challenge - but we'd love to see you create something that stretches your own creativity. Maybe try something new? Melissa is sponsoring with a great package of goodies.

My project comes after a learning experience. Please set aside your beverage.

I was given a set of alcohol inks a while back, and I haven't ever used them. When I picked up some glass ornaments for Christmas I thought to myself hey....I have those alcohol inks! I should try doing that. So I bought some mixative as well, and briefly looked at tutorials and chose one that recommended compressed air for fast drying. Now here comes the learning experience...each individual item I was working with said "use in a ventilated space". But hey, I said to myself, my Zip Dry glue says that too and it's not a problem.

Drip some AI into the ball. Drip some mixative in. (Realizing after the fact that no, I'm leaving that out when I attempt this again). Spray compressed air. Ooooh, look, the ink moves around! Ok, this is cool. Drip in some more ink, spray more air...keeping it going, keeping it going, and then suddenly I kind of come to, leaning over in the chair, and thinking um, I don't feel right.

No ventilation = huffing

Oh my.

I have cut myself, burned myself, bruised myself when the cuttlebug crank slipped and knocked me on the arm....but I have never (well, HAD never) accidentally gotten high while crafting.

Alrighty, you can have your beverage back now :)

Plan B involved tucking small quilled pieces and die cuts into the glass ball, which was accomplished without incident. I'd like to try a snowflake inside one!

Hard to get a very good picture - the bells are hung from embroidery floss, the cap of the ornament put back on, and then tied to the ring to keep them from falling further inside the ball.

This challenge will be open for 2 weeks, until Sunday, January 3 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Shopping our Stash #231 - Let it Snow!

Again with the song earworm...but this one's already been in my head for days. Tis the season! At Shopping our Stash we'd like to see your snow this challenge - think snowy scenes, snowpeople, do you want to build a snowman? (hell no)

Supplies: sticker from Penny Black; paper from Bo Bunny; Palette Noir ink, clear EP; unknown sentiment stamp; doily, vellum, snowflake buttons from stash

I confess I did buy more of these Penny Black stickers this year, but this one was left over from last year, the snowflake paper was a scrap from another card, and so was the vellum. Ta-da!

C'mon and play, you know you're still making last-minute projects anyway!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #331 - DRS Designs!

Good morning! And welcome back DRS Designs, one of our favourite returning sponsors at TMS!  This sketch inspired me to take a peek at my designer paper for the pages of clips - this little snowman is a heart stealer :)

Supplies: American Crafts papers; SRM designs sticker sentiment; black rhinestones from Dollarama

Here's the sketch:

This challenge will be open until next Sunday, December 20 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - X is for...

We're not the only last-minute Lucies out there, I know it. Join the Sisterhood with your "holy crap on a cracker it's less than two weeks until Christmas" cards - and even better? A two-week challenge would have this end ON Christmas - we're crazy, but we're not nuts. So you have a month to link up, giving you time to drink solidly through the holidays & post after the hangover ends! We've got your back like that :)

Supplies: image & printed sentiment from Bugaboo; rub-on Fa lalalala from stash; Spectrum Noir markers; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; classic small circle Nesties; AC papers; snowflake buttons from stash

Couldn't we all relate to this chickie??? I know I can.

Go see what the Sistahs made, and then get back to your regularly scheduled panic:

Don't forget to leave some love for this week's guest designer, IKE!

Bugaboo Christmas Chaos!

I don't know that I'll get to all 7 challenges for Bugaboo's annual Christmas Chaos but I've made a good start :) Popping what I've done so far into one post:

Supplies: Stella-turkey; AC patterned paper; Spectrum Noir markers; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; 1.5" circle punch

The red in the paper is a much closer match than it appears here - and I selectively coloured the scene to speed up creating a little bit :)

Supplies: Bugaboo Christmas fairy; American Crafts papers; Lil Inkers stitched rectangles dies; Spectrum Noir markers; Diamond Stickles; rub on 'joy', buttons, and bling from stash

For the recipe I used the word 'joy'; buttons & bling as my two embellishments; and interpreted the 3 layers of paper to mean 3 types of patterned paper.

I chose Fruit Cake – Make it Funny & use ONLY scraps to create your card

Supplies: JJ Christmas martini; Spectrum Noir & sharpie markers; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; Diamond stickles; Lil Inkers stitched rectangles die; 1 1/8" circle punch; scraps of Bo Bunny & AC glitter paper

The glitter circles were punched from small strips - too small for full circles, actually, so I hid the missing parts with the sentiment!

Still waiting for some more images to dry, so perhaps I'll be back in time to join all 7!

xoxo,
Jessi

Let it Snow!

I know - nothing but regularly scheduled posts for months, and two weeks before Christmas I pop up out of the woodwork? And I'm going to post more than once? Go figure.

Popping in real quick to share this card I made for two challenges - The Paper Players & little red wagon, both of which would like to see snow:

Supplies: Rejoicing snowman image from From The Heart stamps; Spectrum Noir markers; glitter snow paint; pearls & snowflake buttons from stash; Bo Bunny paper; distress inks for background (Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Broken China); Lil Inkers stitched rectangle dies

I printed out two copies of the snowman so I could attempt a background on one, and paper-piece the snowman. As you can see my printer ink didn't react well to the distress inks, but overall I still like the effect.

Shopping our Stash #230 - UFOs......

Sounds more mysterious this way! This week at Shopping our Stash we'd like to see you use up one of those Unfinished Objects (UFOs) we all have on our desks (or in a drawer, or basket, etc). You know, the piece you coloured but then it didn't work? The embellishments you painstakingly die cut and then thought nahhhh.

In my case, I watercoloured this poinsettia and then set it aside....and then found it in a drawer when I was looking for something else.

Supplies: stamps from PTI; Palette Noir ink; Versamark clear & champagne inks; clear and Pirate Gold EP; distress inks for watercolouring; Lil Inkers stitched rectangle die; brushed gold paper from stash

I used a glue pen to add dots to the poinsettia to allow me to emboss the flower centre. I love that there's tons of detail on this card - and yet it's still completely flat so cheap to mail. Score!

So what random finds did the crew come up with? Go see!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #330 - Our very own KRIS!

Our teammie Kris is  the sponsor this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and she has put together a fabulous bundle of goodies for the lucky winner - you definitely want a chance to win!!

Supplies: penguin digi stamp from Sweet & Sassy stamps; Spectrum Noir & sharpie markers; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; Stampendous cotton ball Fun Flock; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; googly eyes; Bo Bunny papers; classic small oval Nesties; twine & buttons from stash

I've added gloss to his beak & feet and the lights, and Fun Flock to his belly & the white parts of his hat. Lots of texture - and sewing the bells on allows them to still ring :)

Nina designed this awesome sketch (love it for scraps!):

This challenge will be open until next Sunday, December 13 - hop on over & see what the rest of the team has made!

Just popping in in the middle of our 2-week challenge to remind you we want to see your projects with no stamping over at Shopping our Stash!  I found these pre-printed 'topper' sheets which are perfect for this kind of card:

Supplies: uh oh....can't remember where the toppers are from, buttons are from stash; cardstock is random scraps (including the red frame left over from die cutting something else); oh! Tim Holtz design ruler & embroidery supplies for the little random stitches. Not much of a supply list! lol

You've got until Monday, December 7 to join in - won't you?
