Playing in Paradise #70 - TEXTURE!

When I saw Nina's challenge for us this week at Playing in Paradise, I knew I would only have trouble narrowing down what I wanted to play with. Texture is one of my absolute favourite ways to add interest to a card.

With Father's Day next weekend I thought I'd take a masculine turn and see what I could come up with:

Supplies: papers from Graphic 45;
buttons from Jesse James;
sentiment stamp from ditto; Palette Noir ink;
standard small circle Nesties;
Ranger Antique Linen distress crackle paint;

Use a solid font & any permanent ink to stamp on top of the crackle paint
(a more delicate font may blur)

To make my crackle piece, I painted a piece of scrap card from a package of stickers - not quite as thick as chipboard, but enough thickness to keep the paper from curling too much. I painted an area a bit larger than the Nestie I planned to use, and let it dry. Last time I played with the crackle paint I did it directly onto the designer paper, and I wanted to have a bit more control over it for this project. The card did curl a little bit, but I adhered the cutout circle with a generous amount of glue & placed it under a stack of books to dry. 

To stamp on top of the crackle paint, I played with the piece left over before stamping on my circle - since it was already glued to the card - to see what worked best. With the Palette ink that I normally use, it did blur a tiny bit, but I think it works with the crackle. I blotted with a tissue to make sure I wasn't going to smear it with my big meaty hands, and then finished the card.
