Supplies: Paper Smooches Beboppin' stamps; Memento Tuxedo Black & London Fog ink; Versamark; clear detail EP; Distress inks in Barn Door and Mustard Seed; Doodlebug letter stickers
My second card is for two challenges: Doodle Pantry, where the theme is Make it Manly; and The Pink Elephant, which is specifically calling for Father's Day.
Supplies: pre-coloured digi from Got Tractor? at Doodle Pantry; classic small oval Nesties; sentiment from Studio G; Vintage Photo distress ink; papers from Simple Stories; unknown woodgrain washi
The lopped-off edge of the oval wasn't my intention, but when it was done? I liked it, so I went with it. I think this layout would make a good sketch :)
Father's Day was a tough one for me for years - despite years of effort my father & I are estranged, and although I'm not happy about that, I've finally made peace with the fact that I have made every effort possible. You cannot change how someone else behaves, you can only control your own reaction to it. I feel sad that my kids do not have a grandfather in their lives, but I can't force that to happen.
It's only taken me oh, 15 years or so, but finally I think I've managed to transfer most of my feelings about Father's Day to gratitude that my husband is a wonderful father that I am lucky to have as a coparent. He is an incredibly supportive dad, always there for the boys - and always there for me. I shared this picture on Facebook this morning - we really need to take another with all four of us, since this is from 2012 and the boys are both taller than I am now. Plus Rob's beard is much uh, manlier, and my tattoo is completely different.
l-r: Connor, Rob, Riley, me :)

Nice toots!!
Great cards Jessi! Love the first one and the sloping piano keys. Great for any guy.
Hope your husband has a great Father's Day.

Love the chopped off oval on the tractor card. Thought you did it on purpose...you always have unique cards. Thanks for joining us this month at Doodle Pantry.
What a great picture. :)
I think you have a new trend beginning with the lopped off oval... although knowing how it came to unintentionally happen might make a fun story. ;) Both it and the PS card are perfect dad cards. Really like the white-on-white "dad" on the PS card.
What a sweet photo and two great cards, Jessi!! It might be an outdated photo, but it sure is a good one!
Your wisdom is well-earned, I can tell. Having had an absent alcoholic father (and abusive alcoholic mother, for that matter), we do learn that we can only control our own behavior, much as we'd like it to be otherwise. In addition, if we're lucky, we reach the epiphany were we just accept how blessed we are, worse than some, but a whole hellofa lot better than a lot of peeps! You rock, my friend. Hugs, Darnell
These are both awesome! LOVE the fun pun on the first and I adore that tractor image on the second! Thanks for joining us at Doodle Patnry! :) HUGS! Mynn xx
gorgeous cards! i love the clustered elements on the first...the shadowy notes and cassette is perfect. the second card is so fabulous...i love that image...and the straight edge is genius. awesome layout!
I'm so casing that PS card! Love it! The tractor card rocks! I love the lopped-off oval (you MEANT to do that!) and the woodgrain washi tape? Yes Please!! Love the family pic!
Both gorge cards, Jessi. LOVE the picture of the fam ... just perfect. Leave the past behind, march on, my friend! Sending you hugs,
Asha
Awesome dad cards!! Really love the rocking one!! And an awesome pic of you and your family!!
Hi Jessi! Love your father's day cards- the gray cassette and musical notes are the perfect backdrop for the more vibrant elements. Thank so much for playing along with this week's Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge!
Great family photo. One would think y'all like each other or something weird like that. I love both cards but I am partial to the "you rock" one. Although, true confession time, my dad never rocked. He was more an easy listening kind of guy. I think of him whenever I get a massage. I swear they are playing the exact same songs he used to listen to.
Such great cards!! Thanks for sharing with us at TPE!
Two great Father's Day cards, love the lopped off oval! Thanks for joining us for DPDC #47 hope to see you again!
