Seize the Sketch #22

Thanks!!

Good morning! It's time for a brand new sketch over at Seize the Sketch, and this week Lori Tecler is our sketch artist. (I tried to fit "sketch" in that sentence one.more.time. but I couldn't do it! lol)

I decided to pull out some funky neon and make a super bright card:

Supplies: Neon card stock & washi tape from Recollections; Cuttlebug embossing folder; sentiment from The Stamps of Life; Adirondack Citrus ink; quilling paper

I assembled the base panel & stamped the sentiment before embossing - embossing the washi really helps it stay put! The flower is made up of two layers - one with large petals, one with smaller, slightly offset for more dimension. *happy sigh*

Here's the sketch:

Check out what the rest of the amazing DT did!

Shopping our Stash #155 - Something Soft

This week at Shopping our Stash we want to see you get all soft & cuddly with your supplies! Think flock, felt, flower soft, satin, fabric, puffy tail on a bunny, etc.

Supplies: Stampendous Chick; AC foam Thickers; papers from Fancy Pants; classic small oval Nesties; yellow Fun Flock; Bic Markers; homemade enamel dots

Besides adding fun flock to my chickie, those Thickers are super soft - this is my first time using the pack, and I was actually going to add flock to them - but they're soooo soft!

- and don't forget to check out what the rest of the gals made:

I followed the current Wanna Sketch?16 for the layout (altered to fit a landscape layout) and then I got crazy and made 4 more cards with it. This first one is inspired completely by Lindsey, who used this rose as a background (brilliant!!)
Supplies: Stampin' Up rose; Paper Smooches sentiment; Spun Sugar & Worn Lipstick distress inks; Memento Gray Flannel ink; Versamark & white Detail EP; various mists (not sure, this was in my stash box a while!)

You've got to love a layout that lends itself to cards for every occasion!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #253 - All Debbie!

Good morning! Our teammate Debbie is this week's go-to gal - she designed the sketch, and she's our sponsor :) Yay Debbie! (oh, and um, can I win the prize? THX!) As you know, once a month at Tuesday Morning Sketches we want you to follow a TWIST as well as the sketch, and this time around the twist is: MASCULINE.

Supplies: pre-coloured car digi from CDS; Amy R sentiment; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Doodlebug twine

To get the twine wrap to stay evenly spaced, I cut it into strips & used tape to secure each separate strand.

Here's the sketch:

This sketch is open until next Sunday, June 15th - be sure to hop around & see what the rest of the team created!

Best Farter Ever!

A thought I'd never had before yesterday - I need to make more fart cards. When I saw Torico's card for the latest Naughty or Nice challenge I had "farter" stuck in my head while I was working on Father's Day cards. I finally managed to gel my idea yesterday morning, and I LOVE IT and everybody here thought it was hilarious :)

Supplies: star paper from Simple Stories; 'Farter' AC Thickers; 'best ever' Memory Box alpha die; 'poot' and 'ew!' Kaisercraft mini alphas; Paper Smooches cloud dies

My absolute favourite part? POOT.

I may blame it on living in a house full of boys, but I always, always laugh at fart jokes.

Life's short. Eat beans!

(I'm also popping this in at Simon Says masculine challenge...because of COURSE farts are a boy thing! lol)

Embossed Merry Monday

Man, sometimes titles are just a pain to come up with! I should start naming them like hurricanes ;)
Well, it's Sunday, so here I am with my Merry Monday Christmas card for the week - and I'm also popping it in at Chocolate, Coffee, and Cards for their embossing challenge.

Supplies: snowflake stamps from Stampendous; sentiment from Flourishes; Versamark; White Detail EP (Stampendous); Colorbox Frost White pigment ink; pearls from Dollarama

With the pale aqua cardstock it's hard to see, but I smudged some pigment ink in an oval shape around the sentiment to help it stand out. It didn't quite work, lol. The pearls I used are sold as strips, so I just snipped in between them to use them here.

Father's Day Brainnnnnsssss

I've got a quick Father's Day card to share that I just love - this Whimsie Doodles zombie is one of my very favourite ever images.

Supplies: Whimsie Doodles digi; Jillibean Soup alpha stickers; Amy R stamps (Father sentiments); Antique Linen distress ink; Bic markers; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic

I used a variety of sentiments from the Amy R set to create a tone-on-tone background on the kraft - if you click to see full size it's a bit easier to read those. Some Dimensional Magic one the eyes, brain, and arm bone, and some smudges of 'dirt' on the shirt, and our zombie is ready!

Shopping our Stash #154 - Critters!

This week at Shopping our Stash, we want to see animals everywhere! Wild animals, pets, so long as it's a critter! I pulled out an oldie-but-goodie Inkadinkado mini set.

Supplies: Inkadinkado stamps; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; washi (I think all Recollections); googly eyes; embroidery thread for the 'gift'

I think it's pretty straightforward - I used the washi to create the background, paper-pieced the kitty with some orange cardstock, and glued on the googly eyes & bits of thread for the 'fluffy gift' :)

- and don't forget to check out what the rest of the gals made:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #252 - Bugaboo!

Good morning sketch fans! We have a great sketch & sponsor for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches - Bugaboo Stamps is back!

I had a blast working with Gus Birthday - Optional - I love that grumpy guy :)

Supplies: Gus Birthday - Optional from Bugaboo Stamps; papers from Amy Tangerine; classic small circle & oval Nesties; Bic & Spectrum Noir markers; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; Prismacolor pencils; tattered angels glimmer mists in Yellow Daisy, Tiger Lily, Key Lime Pie; home made enamel dots

I shined up his glasses & his fun little kart :)

Here's the sketch - as you can see, I altered my card a bit to be able to make a traffic light out of my embellies.

This sketch is open until next Sunday, June 8th - be sure to hop around & see what the rest of the team created!

Kris - off this week

Birthday Pastels

Well, I'm sitting here staring at the screen thinking about what to type, and I got nothin'. I think I'm coming down with something - felt "off" the last couple days, and have slept much more than usual. Hopefully that kills whatever this bug is! I'm probably due though, since I really haven't been sick since the fall.

Supplies: sweet digi bear from Tiddly Inks; sentiment from Stamps of Life; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spectrum Noir and Bic markers; Stampendous Fun Flock; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; papers unknown; classic small oval Nesties

Sorry for the blurry shot - I was trying to capture the gloss on her balloons, eyes, and nose. I've also added fun flock, so this is a great touchable card :)

Peace on Earth

The Jingle Belles are challenging us to create a Christmas card that evokes peace this time around. (Heck, just creating a card evokes peace for me - I get to temporarily escape the crazy atmosphere of my life!). I've used a primarily white colour scheme, a peaceful sentiment, lots of texture (lace, velvet flower, handmade paper), and a scene with a bird. Since I'm always up before the birds (UGH) I do enjoy watching them flit around and chirp. This year we have an abundance - well, we always have an abundance of starlings, since they nest in our carport. This year there are 4 nests in there, and 3 with babies right now. We've also got robins, mourning doves, chickadees (my favourite), and yellow-rumped warblers, which are extremely close to chickadees in appearance & song, but with a yellow belly. Oh! And I almost forgot, we have a couple of pileated woodpeckers as well. We also get blue jays & waxwings visiting. Growing up in Vancouver, anything that's not a pigeon, crow, or seagull makes me giddy :)

Now that I'm done digressing (HAH) here's my card:

Supplies: Penny Black sticker; PTI sentiment; Broken China distress ink & clear detail EP; Imaginisce velvet flower; Hero Arts adhesive lace; handmade mesh paper (Paper-Ya); vellum; clear gem from dollar store

I bought a mixed pack of handmade papers while in Vancouver, and this is one of my favourites. It feels like mulberry paper.

You have until Wednesday to share your PEACE card with the jingle belles :)

Jessi
