Let it Snow!

I know - nothing but regularly scheduled posts for months, and two weeks before Christmas I pop up out of the woodwork? And I'm going to post more than once? Go figure.

Popping in real quick to share this card I made for two challenges - The Paper Players & little red wagon, both of which would like to see snow:

Supplies: Rejoicing snowman image from From The Heart stamps; Spectrum Noir markers; glitter snow paint; pearls & snowflake buttons from stash; Bo Bunny paper; distress inks for background (Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Broken China); Lil Inkers stitched rectangle dies

I printed out two copies of the snowman so I could attempt a background on one, and paper-piece the snowman. As you can see my printer ink didn't react well to the distress inks, but overall I still like the effect.

It's Hip to Be Square!

I've got two square cards to share with you today - when I make these super-embellished cards, I also make a little box for giving. No worries about squishing that way! The Paper Players are looking for square cards this week if you'd like to play along. Each card measures 5.25" square.

Supplies: Dreamweavers Crackle Embossing paste; Lil Inkers fringed flower die; Prima leaves; AC Thickers '40'; distress inks for watercolouring - dusty concord, seedless preserves, mowed lawn, broken china, peacock feathers; all other items from stash

I just coated a piece of paper with a layer of crackle paste using my fingers, and when it was dry watercoloured it. Super simple!

Supplies: blue flowers quilled by me; gem swirl & ribbon flower from Dollarama

The rhinestones & ribbon flower were a single-piece embellishment I got at the dollar store. A few snips and repositioning and it was perfect to pop up this card.

Paper Players Sketch

Lots to post before deadlines! I had my first kid-free day since mid-June and I made good use of it :) This card is for the Paper Players sketch:

Supplies: PTI stamps; distress inks in Shabby Shutters & Peeled Paint; Versamark & clear EP; May Arts Twine; Bow Easy; Tim Holtz design ruler & embroidery supplies; unknown tag die

Here's the sketch - I couldn't resist using vellum and stitching the border to mark that element on the sketch:

Father's Day Sketch

Squeaking in at the last minute with an entry for the sketch challenge at The Paper Players - after weeks of not really following challenges I've made cards for most of my favourites this week :) It feels good!

Supplies: stamps from PTI; Paper Smooches cloud dies; Studio Calico boat veneers; Distress inks in Festive Berries, Chipped Sapphire, and Tumbled Glass

I masked off the bottom portion of the boat to stamp the little circles as waves - kinda graphic & I like it :)

Put on Your Sunglasses!

This is a bright one! I was inspired by the photo at FUSION and the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players to create this super bright and cheery birthday card.

Supplies: paper from AC; Versamark & yellow EP; Mustard Seed & Squeezed Lemonade distress inks; Gray Flannel Memento ink; neat & tangled sequins; unknown stamp set; embroidery supplies

The embossed yellow circle is all polka-dotty - and for once, I was able to get the multi-layer stamps lined up pretty well on my first try!  Two shades of yellow sequins and ta-da!

FUSION:

The Paper Players: I used the diagonal choices of yellow, sequins, and polka dots

Lily Sympathy

I may be addicted to Leslie's latest sketch.  I pulled out this lily stamp to use for an Easter card and thought ohhhh this would also be a good one for a sympathy card.

Supplies: Lily stamp from Inkadinkado; Sentiment from Wordsworth; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Broken China distress ink; Labels 4 Nesties; 1.5" circle punch; Spectrum Noir markers & Prismacolor pencils; Cuttlebug embossing folder

Fairly simple - I sponged the edges of the panels with Broken China, and overtop of the embossing to help it pop.

I'm entering in these three challenges:

Vintage St Patrick's Day

It's been St. Patty's week at my desk! All the green.

Supplies: vintage clip art from The Graphics Fairy; MFT banner die; Dress it Up coin charms; May Arts cream twine; clear EP; versamark; Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink; Cuttlebug embossing folder; Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Olive Green & Copper; scraps of vellum & copper card stock

This wasn't hard to make but there were definitely a few techniquey things, so I'll explain :) I printed out the clip art on the fast draft setting by accident, so it was a bit blurry. I decided to make that look like it was on purpose by doing a cracked glass technique - but after 4 coats of clear EP I called it good & left it like that.

The background was created by spritzing Olive Green & Copper glimmer mists, then dry embossing, then swiping Galaxy Gold ink on top, and clear embossing.

The banners were die cut from copper card & vellum, and I snipped a tiny bit in between each pennant to allow me to bend them.

I was very much inspired by the banners in the inspiration photo at Just Us Girls, and since St. Patrick's day is the first Spring holiday, I'm also entering over at The Paper Players.

Thank You!

A second card for the Stamp Smiles Geometric challenge, and using the sketch from The Paper Players!  My oldest shaped stash besides my circle punches are my circle Nesties, and here they are.

Supplies: Memory Box leaf frond die; small classic circle Nesties; Wplus9 banner die; sentiment from PTI; vellum; patterned papers from AC and Bo Bunny; Peeled Paint distress ink; button and burlap thread from stash

My circle Nesties were the very first ones I bought - probably about eight years ago. I use them nearly every single day!

Tic-Tac-Toe

Challenges are definitely helping me stay on track getting ready for 3 sales this weekend! Taking a very quick break to post a whole bunch :)

This one was made using the tic-tac-toe grid at The Paper Players this week - I used the horizontal centre line of "patterned paper - embossing - snowflake"

Supplies: sentiment from PTI; snowflake from Stampendous; Versamark & Clear EP; Memento Gray Flannel ink; Tumbled Glass distress ink; paper from Carta Bella; classic small circle Nesties; bling strips from Dollarama

I wanted the paper to be the star - so pretty! - so I opted for a simple centre panel. The snowflake was stamped first, and then the sentiment was double-inked using Versamark & Gray Flannel, and embossed with clear EP.

Here's the board:

Another sketch...

...sorry! This time I've got two cards made with the current Paper Players sketch:

Supplies: button from Basic Grey; everything else from Simple Stories' diy Christmas

I made French knots on the white dotted parts of the poinsettia paper, just because I felt like it.

Supplies: papers from Carta Bella; banner die from Wplus9; stampendous sentiment; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spectrum Noir marker; 1.5" circle punch; button from stash

I'd made the snowman card first, and I wasn't completely happy with it, so I went back to my trusty Simple Stories collection.

Here's the sketch:

Monster Big Thanks!

This was a super quick and easy card with the help of this cute pre-coloured digi from Doodle Pantry! This time of year I appreciate that even more than usual.

Supplies: image & sentiment from Doodle Pantry; papers from Simple Stories diy Christmas; classic small circle Nesties; big ol' googly eye

When I was working on this, I couldn't decide whether to give him two eyes (the illustration has two small eyes) or between two different sizes of one eye. I asked Riley, my googly-eye guru, and he chose this size. I think it's perfect!

Merry Christmas at the Paper Players

I'm not usually one for colour challenges, but I just bought the perfect stuff to play along with The Paper Players this week!

Supplies: die cuts from Simple Stories; banner dies from Wplus9; scrap vellum; Tim Holtz design ruler & embroidery supplies

I cut some of the die-cut banners in half, attached them with double-sided tape, and then stitched everything into place. Ta-da!
I've been crafting up a storm for the first Christmas sale this Friday, so I'll have lots to share later in the week :)

GLITTER!

I found some solid glitter paper at the dollar store last week, and I bought all the colours. (I'll give you a minute to process that shocking news!) With the current Paper Players challenge to make a CAS gold or silver card, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Supplies: Rose heart from Flourishes; Sentiment from Paper Smooches; Worn Lipstick distress ink; Versamark; Moonstone EP; classic small circle Nesties; silver glitter paper

Back to crafty joy!

A rare card..

...suitable for an adult male. Not sarcastic. Not mean. This, my friends, is the unicorn of Jessi cards. It's also inspired by the Paper Players' current challenge.

Supplies: Penny Black sticker; Stampin' Up Lovely as a Tree stamp; Paper Smooches sentiment; Memento Gray Flannel ink

I really need to make more of this kind of card. (Stop laughing!)

Have a Purrrrfect Day!

Squeaking in at the last minute for the current sketch challenge at The Paper Players!

Supplies: stamps from Paper Smooches; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spectrum Noir markers; Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry; papers from stash & MME; banner dies from Wplus9; button from stash

I'd originally intended to put the sentiment on the longest banner of the sketch, but it was too long to fit. White-on-white to the rescue :)

Just Merry NBUS Players!

First of all, don't adjust your screens or double-check your calendars, it's true. I have a Merry Monday card for you on a Thursday.

*thud*

I'm shocked too!

And on top of that, I paired it with the fun sketch at The Paper Players - which I liked so much that I made a second card with it. And I found some actual honest-to-goodness NBUS in my stash, which is a rarity. I am more of a use-it-to-death crafter ;)

*thud*

I used the same NBUS on both cards - the middle-sized banner die. I've used the large one a million times give or take, and the small one once or twice. Well, now I've used the medium one twice! This first card, the little holly-type stamps are also seeing ink for the first time (well, and the paper pad too, but since Barb JUST gave it to me on Saturday I don't think that's in the true NBUS spirit!)

Supplies: papers from MME; Worn Lipstick distress ink; stamps from Flourishes; Cherub Pink & Pearl mists from Tattered Angels; pink & blue gems; banner dies from WPlus9; glitter buttons from a dollar store in Vancouver

I sprayed the sentiment circle with the Cherub Pink mist & immediately dried it with my heat gun to stop the ink from running. Once I assembled the card I gave it a couple quick shots of Pearl mist for overall shine :)

Forgive my rambling & going on - I'm trying to cook supper, and also listening to Riley & his friend kill video game zombies - and my train of thought has been derailed more times than I can count in the last 20 minutes it's taken me to get this far. AUGH!

This second card is using the same banner NBUS, a new package of Bazzill cardstock, and some letter stickers from Doodlebug that are so old they aren't sticky any more. Made it VERY easy to place them since I had to add my own glue! I've also used the Paper Players sketch, and the colour combination from Just Us Girls.

Supplies: banner dies from WPlus9; Bazzill cardstock; Market Street Stamps sun; Doodlebug letter stickers; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; MME paper scraps

Before I forget, here's the challenge graphics for

Merry Monday (card #1)

The Paper Players (both cards)

JUGs (second card)

Thanks for bearing with my mind skipping all over the place! I hope this isn't a sign of the rest of the summer - it's been a tough one. Again, transitions+autism=suckage.
