Flashback Friday 23.0 - Butterfly!

First, I have a question: there are 4 blogs that I added to my reader within the same couple of days, ages ago. Those four blogs disappear from my reader over & over - I re-add them every time I sign in, and sometimes they disappear without me even signing out. How do I fix it? When Blogger updated, they stayed put for about a week, and then started disappearing again.

One of those blogs is Flashback Friday, and as a result I spaced on actually following through and posting my first butterfly card, even though I saved the link to it & meant to ages ago. The challenge ends tonight (May 18), so it's last minute, but you still have time to link up too!

My first butterfly card was posted on World Card Making Day 2010:

I go back to this design over & over, in different variations, because well, butterfly. And bling, and glitter. All those things are always good.

Flashback Friday 22.0!!

***This is my second post for today - there is BIG NEWS down below! or click here***

This is pretty big news too - oh em gee. Check what I'm a part of!

If you've never played along before, Flashback Friday is a super fun linky party, celebrating our very "firsts" as crafters. Do you cringe when you see your project? Or do you still love it? It may have been back when you first started blogging, it may have been a few weeks ago - but we want to see & share your firsts, and all of us can see how we've changed & improved. Make sure you're re-posting your project, not linking up to the original post - part of the fun is looking back & sharing your reaction! For Flashback Friday 22.0 we're looking back at our first cards using DIE CUTS.

Amy Tsuruta is the fabulous fun host, and I'm honoured to play along! This time around the format for Flashback Friday is a little different, and we're starting with a hop! First of all, I'll share the amazing prize details, sponsored by the generous Sylvia at Sylvia's Corner:

In Sylvia's own words, the prize details:
The prize is composed of a Stampin'Up! Sale-A-Bration package I put together. There is a Everyday Enchantment Tote, a 12"x12" package of Everyday Enchantment Designer Paper(12pieces), 10 card bases, two of each of these colors, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, and Wisteria Wonder, 20" of Baja Breeze satin pleated ribbon, 2yds each Everyday Enchantment Organdy Ribbon Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral, 10 Everyday Enchantment brads and 10 shaped clear buttons, and the Sale-A-Bration Fresh Vintage stamp set(wood mount, unmounted). This collection is sponsored by Sylvia's corner Etsy shop, where I sell my handmade cards, banners, gift bags and albums.

What a fun prize!
Here's my first card using die cuts - just plain ol' circle & oval Nesties, but still awesome. I use those dies every time I sit down to create.

I still love my Nesties, and I do love that little chickie, and Liquid Applique for whipped cream? I don't love the photo, but hey, I was using a scanner way back in September 2010 (the olden days? lol).

So, without further ado - go hop! Check out everyone's first cards using die cuts, and then dig deep into your own archives & link up your own at the Flashback Friday blog before April 13. Oops! APRIL 20!

The blog hop starts at (SPOILER ALERT!)
our sponsor Sylvia at Sylvia's Stamping Corner
****me!!! at OneCraftyMama***
and last but certainly not least

Thank you SO much for visiting - make sure & say hello so I can come visit you too!
Have fun on the hop!
xoxo,
Jessi

Flashback Friday 21.0 - Paper Piecing!

I'm pretty new to the Flashback Friday challenges, but I do love looking back & seeing how I've improved! This time around the Flashback is hosted by none other than Jen W, from JENerally Speaking, and she chose 'paper piecing' as the theme. My first paper-pieced card here was my second post in September 2010 - it's long been a favourite technique of mine. What I love about the original card? I made one quite like it just this past week. Check it:
Link to my original post here

And my new card?

Supplies: papers from Basic Grey "Little Black Dress;"
girl stamp from CC Designs; Palette Noir ink;
Labels 4 Nesties;
sentiment from Hero Arts; versamark & pirate gold EP;
Sakura Stardust glitter pen & Black Glaze pen;
ribbon from Offray
Sometimes things stand the test of time, I guess!
You've got until Friday March 23rd to link up your own first paper-pieced creation, so go have a look & see what you've got :)

Jessi

Flashback Friday 20.0 - Woot! woot!

Well, it feels like it took for.e.ver to find my first mostly black & white card for Flashback Friday Challenge 20.0, but I did it (yay me, pats self on back...) This is from May 2011:
Original post here

There's a ginormous prize up for grabs for commenting on the celebration hop & participating in this round of the Flashback Friday Challenge - and you have 3 weeks to get yourself linked up, so what are you waiting for?
Seriously, go.
Like, now.
I mean, you HAVE three weeks, doesn't mean you have to take THAT LONG.
(Oddly, this is starting to sound like my husband when I have a deadline that I'm procrastinating about....ahem.)
But I digress.
Thanks, Amy, for all the fun!

Jessi

Flashback Friday 19.0 - CAS

Clean and simple? Hmm, not really my forte. I had to dig around, and found 2 from my first few months of blogging, complete with scanned/washed out pictures. Here's the very first one, from October 2010:

Original post here, with supplies

Besides wanting to go back & learn how to use my camera ages before I actually did, I think I might still be happy with this card. I do sort of want to reach in and ink the edges of the embossed panel & tag, though :)

Anyhow, if you'd like to play along over at Flashback Friday, poke around through your blog & find your first posted CAS card & link up by January 27. Have fun!

xoxo,
Jessi

Flashback Friday 18.0 - my first time!

I love the idea of Flashback Friday, checking out our first posted creations & sharing them. This is my first time participating, though. Some of the themes I've just never touched on, but owls? I love owls! I can't believe that I only posted cards with owls on them in February of this year. Since I posted two that day, I'll share them both:

My original post was here, and the supplies are listed there.
Anyhow, check out Flashback Friday 18.0, and link up before December 23rd. You've got to have some owls lurking around on your blog somewhere!

Jessi
