It's NBUS time!

ermagerd, I'm posting for a challenge where I'm not on the design team! That's how you can tell SCHOOL'S BACK ON! (insert cheering here). I fell so far behind on commenting it's ridiculous, and this morning I finally accepted that nope, I'll never catch up. I deleted my feed & am starting fresh - so hopefully this week I'll be getting around and commenting, instead of looking and going OH DEAR GOD how will I catch up?

The fabulous Darnell is once again hosting an NBUS challenge (Never Been Used Schtuff), and I pulled out this cute Avery Elle set to make a fun wedding card:

Of course I had to gloss up the windows!

I imagine I'll be playing again - just have to peek through my stash and see what needs loving!

Light Bright NBUS

I think this is the first January on record that I haven't had my mojo go on vacation without me! I haven't been entering as many challenges but I'm still creating, so woohoo! I made this card with two challenges in mind - CASology's prompt LIGHT reminded me that I had this Unity stamp in my stash that hadn't seen ink yet...which led me to Darnell's NBUS #3 challenge!

Supplies: stamps from Unity; Memento Gray Flannel ink; MME paper; yellow glitter glue

I paper-pieced the lampshade with some foam tape for dimension, and then decided to use the same paper as the background. The panel's smaller than I intended because first I stamped off-kilter, and then I trimmed it off-kilter. I just went with it :)

Tuesday Morning Sketches #268!

Good morning! This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we're working with one of my own sketches, and I even pulled out an NBUS stamp to work with :) Melissa is sponsoring this week with a $10 gift card to Simon Says Stamp - now couldn't we all use that?!

Supplies: Hero Arts flower & sentiment stamps; Spectrum Noir markers; Bo Bunny patterned papers; Spiced Marmalade & Festive Berries distress inks; Tumbled Glass Distress Stickles; Claudine Hellmuth orange paint; classic small circle Nesties

I inked the sentiment stamps with both distress inks to get a richer colour. After colouring the flower (which is my NBUS!) I filled in the centre with Distress Stickles and the dots with orange dimensional paint.

I'm also going to enter my card & the next into Darnell's latest NBUS challenge - this Hero Arts flower stamp has been languishing in my drawer for nearly 2 years. I went with option two - make 2 cards using the same stamp. Once it saw ink, it wanted to play again :)

Supplies: Hero Arts flower stamp; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spectrum Noir markers; Paper Smooches sentiment; background created using Glimmer Mists & an unknown embossing folder (Yellow Daisy, Turquoise Blue, Key Lime mists) and then inked with Mustard Seed & Squeezed Lemonade distress inks; Tumbled Glass Distress Stickles

I didn't think of it until later, but the layout is even similar!

Just Merry NBUS Players!

First of all, don't adjust your screens or double-check your calendars, it's true. I have a Merry Monday card for you on a Thursday.

I'm shocked too!

And on top of that, I paired it with the fun sketch at The Paper Players - which I liked so much that I made a second card with it. And I found some actual honest-to-goodness NBUS in my stash, which is a rarity. I am more of a use-it-to-death crafter ;)

 I used the same NBUS on both cards - the middle-sized banner die. I've used the large one a million times give or take, and the small one once or twice. Well, now I've used the medium one twice! This first card, the little holly-type stamps are also seeing ink for the first time (well, and the paper pad too, but since Barb JUST gave it to me on Saturday I don't think that's in the true NBUS spirit!)

Supplies: papers from MME; Worn Lipstick distress ink; stamps from Flourishes; Cherub Pink & Pearl mists from Tattered Angels; pink & blue gems; banner dies from WPlus9; glitter buttons from a dollar store in Vancouver

I sprayed the sentiment circle with the Cherub Pink mist & immediately dried it with my heat gun to stop the ink from running. Once I assembled the card I gave it a couple quick shots of Pearl mist for overall shine :)

Forgive my rambling & going on - I'm trying to cook supper, and also listening to Riley & his friend kill video game zombies - and my train of thought has been derailed more times than I can count in the last 20 minutes it's taken me to get this far. AUGH!

This second card is using the same banner NBUS, a new package of Bazzill cardstock, and some letter stickers from Doodlebug that are so old they aren't sticky any more. Made it VERY easy to place them since I had to add my own glue! I've also used the Paper Players sketch, and the colour combination from Just Us Girls.
