Shopping our Stash #155 - Something Soft

This week at Shopping our Stash we want to see you get all soft & cuddly with your supplies! Think flock, felt, flower soft, satin, fabric, puffy tail on a bunny, etc.

Supplies: Stampendous Chick; AC foam Thickers; papers from Fancy Pants; classic small oval Nesties; yellow Fun Flock; Bic Markers; homemade enamel dots

Besides adding fun flock to my chickie, those Thickers are super soft - this is my first time using the pack, and I was actually going to add flock to them - but they're soooo soft!

- and don't forget to check out what the rest of the gals made:

I followed the current Wanna Sketch?16 for the layout (altered to fit a landscape layout) and then I got crazy and made 4 more cards with it. This first one is inspired completely by Lindsey, who used this rose as a background (brilliant!!)
Supplies: Stampin' Up rose; Paper Smooches sentiment; Spun Sugar & Worn Lipstick distress inks; Memento Gray Flannel ink; Versamark & white Detail EP; various mists (not sure, this was in my stash box a while!)

You've got to love a layout that lends itself to cards for every occasion!

Wanna Sketch? 15

Lisa's sketch for Wanna Sketch? 15 had me a little stumped - I've attempted it several times & the crafty process just never ended up being close to my original idea. Finally this morning, SUCCESS! Once I saw that the current little red wagon challenge was to make your own flowers, it all came together.

Supplies: PTI sentiment; bundled sage distress ink; quilling paper; all other materials from stash

I quilled the flowers & leaves, and set them aside to dry while I added yellow french knots to the patterned paper. I started out just adding them to the flower centres, and then went to town with it. After gluing on the leaves & flowers, I added 3 half pearls to the centre of each flower.

Here's the sketch - there's more than 2 weeks left to play, so lots of time!

Wanna Sketch? 12

Sometimes insomnia gives me ideas...sometimes good ones! I'd been mulling over the latest Wanna Sketch, and I was puzzling over what to use for the 'falling' dots. Voila!

Supplies: skull stamp from Inkadinkado; sentiment stamp from Unity; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Studio Calico veneer arrows; Versamark & black detail EP; black rhinestones from Dollarama

I embossed the arrows with 3 coats of embossing powder, so they're nice & glossy. This card is cracking me up - maybe I need a nap ;)

Wanna Sketch? 10

This card turned into a bit of a hot mess on paper...lol.

Supplies: paper from MME; stamps & cloud dies from Paper Smooches; Versamark; black EP; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; banner die from MFT (grass); Timeless Twine; Peacock Feathers distress ink; Prismacolor pencils

I started out with essentially this idea, but somehow when it made it on to paper...oh boy. It was inspired (if now looks very loosely based! lol) on Lisa's Wanna Sketch? 10.

****Warning, personal stuff. You can skip it :)
I am super giddy this week because on Monday I am finally getting my tattoo properly fixed - I had a horrendous cover-up done over a year ago, and spent pretty much that entire time researching who I needed to find to fix it. I am SO stoked to no longer look at this hot mess on my arm - that is precisely what the new artist called it. A hot mess. And I've now heard from several people (it's a small town & we all know each other, lol) that that is exactly what he said when his wife showed him the photo: "OMG that is a hot mess. We have to help that girl - she can't walk around like that!"
Here's the long story short - I got a ribbon tattoo after a friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Turns out, that friend was lying. Worse, somehow, is that he didn't lie to the entire world about it, just me. I spent a year looking at my arm and feeling like I was a complete and utter idiot for trusting someone that way, and the next year looking at it and wanting to personally deliver the karma. I will even show you a picture of just how awful it looks:

The new design will be most of my upper arm, include a lyric from "While my Guitar Gently Weeps," and I'm going to love my arm again. Happy birthday to me :) I can't wait to share pictures of how it turns out. The lyric?

with every mistake we must surely be learning

At least I hope I am. I'm slowly learning how to trust again. And how to forgive myself. Wish me luck :)

I DID IT!

I am so impressed with myself - I just kind of dared myself to complete 8 cards for the tic-tac-toe challenge at jingle belles, and I DID IT! Woohoo! Here's my first post with my first 2 cards.

Here's the tic-tac-toe board:

I've already completed the first two horizontal rows. Here's my card for the last - die cut, santa, stamping:

Supplies: Bo Bunny stamp; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Labels 5 Nesties; Stampin' Up markers

I did a small-scale version of the 'telescope' technique (I don't know if that's what it's called, but anyway) where the image was stamped twice, and then layered lined up. It's easier to see if you click to view the picture full-size.

Now I'll show you my favourite, and then add a jump so you don't have to read the whole darn thing unless you wanna :)

This one is for the last vertical row: heat embossing, ribbon, stamping:

Supplies: Salty Ocean distress ink; Sapphire Tattered Angels Glimmer mist; all stamps from PTI; Colorbox Frost White ink; Stampendous White Detail EP; Webster's Pages trim; Timeless Twine

The background is a leftover mop-up sheet from a card I made that I haven't shared yet. I inked a piece of plastic with Salty Ocean and then sprayed it with the glimmer mist. I then used the piece of plastic like a stamp - and then because the paper was so saturated, I laid another piece on top to soak up a bit. That would be this piece.

The hanging snowflakes & sentiment were stamped & embossed, and then I stamped a few random flakes in the same blue ink. The glittery tinsel ribbon was stitched on, and the twine tied on top - and then the whole panel attached to the base with foam tape. I. LOVE. THIS. CARD.

Four more, after the jump:

Wanna Sketch #6

So one more thank you card from last week's blitz (which will continue this week, lol). This one uses the fab sketch from Lisa Arana's Wanna Sketch? #6.

Supplies: paper from stash; Wplus9 banner die; Paper Smooches sentiment; Barn Door distress ink; Picket Fence stickles; yellow sparkle fabric paint

This paper's been on my desk for ages, and every time I tried to use it it just didn't work for me. Using a smidge made for a quick & easy card. I fussy-cut one of the blooms & popped it up over another at an angle for some fun dimension, and sparkled up the large flower centres. I used the largest die in the banner set & then gave each end a twist with my fingers to get the whimsical feel of the banner element in the sketch.

I'm also going to throw this in over at Simon Says Stamp for their Anything Goes challenge.

On Saturday I did a little shopping in my dear friend Barb's stash - and guess what? YOU CAN TOO! She has some really awesome stuff listed on her blog...check it out here.  There are a bunch of Paper Smooches sets...and Nesties....and if I talk much more about it I'm going to go buy more, so please save me from myself.  LOL!
