Getting Started on Mother's Day

Working on Mother's Day cards the past couple days, and made this one this morning :)

Supplies: unknown sentiment stamp; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Wink of Stella clear glitter pen; rhinestones from Dollarama; flowers quilled by me

I love all the bright colours together! I traced over the sentiment with Wink of Stella for some subtle shimmer. And since these are definitely handmade flowers, I'm popping it in over at Creative Card Crew's challenge 84.

Good Luck!

OK, I promise this is the last St. Patrick's day card for today! I kept three challenges in mind while I was making this card: Open-Minded Crafting Fun LUCK; Creative Card Crew GREEN; and The Crooked Stamper's Sketch #2. (Definitely going to have to use Leslie's sketch again! Classic!)

Supplies: Shamrock bouquet digi from Waltzingmouse Designs; sentiment from Paper Smooches; Spectrum Noir markers; Mowed Lawn distress ink; Wink of Stella clear glitter pen; classic small oval Nesties; 1" circle punch; green rhinestones from Dollarama

Traced the sentiment and parts of the image with the WOS pen, and ta-da - nearly flat card, with some oomph!

Wishing you a Happy Birthday!

Well, my back WAS getting better, and then I dropped the soap in the shower. *sigh* Being old kinda stinks! And the laundry's piling up, so I envision another week with muscle relaxants and lots of naps. Actually, that doesn't sound all that bad! I've still managed to spend some time sitting gingerly at my desk, so I have a few posts for you today.

I printed out & coloured two copies of the chibi girl so I could pop up the flower and her head. She's so cute! I'm entering three challenges with this card:

TINGO with Glitter!

This was one of those cards that started out without a clear idea of where I was going - and lots of 'oh, that's not working' along the way. I think it's still ended up as a great card for a girl (but next time darnit I'm having a plan!)

Supplies: Mermaid digi from Tiddly Inks; Spectrum Noir markers; Paper Smooches swirls die; 1.5" and 3/4" circle punches; PTI sentiment; Salty Ocean distress ink; Clear EP; Tumbled Glass distress stickles; seam binding ribbon from stash

The shimmery paper I used to die cut the waves and the sentiment "bubbles" was one I sprayed with mists before Christmas, so I'm not sure what I used. The blue marker ink bled a bit on the tail & bikini top so I added Stickles to distract from that!

Freebie Friday at Bugaboo!

It's Friday! And that means a new freebie over at Bugaboo, thanks to the generous Jodie. You are definitely going to want to snag this little fella, Marshmallow Snowman - Candy Cane:

Supplies: Marshmallow Snowman - Candy Cane digi from Bugaboo; Spectrum Noir markers; paper from MME; classic small oval Nesties; Mod Podge Dimensional Magic; Diamond Stickles; googly eyes

I printed out two copies of the snowman, and coloured & cut out the body of the second image to pop it up for some dimension. I added gloss to the carrot nose & little heart, and lots of Diamond Stickles for a snowy sparkle.

Catch the Bug - I'm so EXCITED!!!

During the Christmas in July challenge at Bugaboo, I was  the lucky second-place winner - which means I get to join the Bugaboo Crew for 3 months as a guest designer! Today's my first day on the blog, celebrating Freebie Friday with this cutie pie: AKV Winter-Sled:

It really seemed like the inner tube needed some shine :) I tied the twine bow using the Bow Easy, and then sewed it to the centre of the button to keep it aligned how I wanted it. 

With the bow, this is perfect for the Creative Card Crew challenge - BOWS. The Pink Elephant is also having an Anything Goes challenge this week.

Ewe Make Me Feel

Here it is, my last card for the Pink Christmas challenge at Jingle Belles! I see they hit their goal of 125 cards (plus a couple) - YAHOO! I made this one this morning after seeing the new Creative Card Crew Challenge of bows.  And as pink is definitely a non-traditional Christmas colour, I'm also popping this in at Merry Monday. 

Supplies: all stamps from The Cat's Pajamas; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spun Sugar distress ink; Timeless Twine; Bow Easy; MME papers; Cotton Ball Fun Flock; pink rhinestones from Dollarama

I paper-pieced the scarf & pockets, and added Fun Flock to the belly & 'hair' of the sheep. The bow was tied & then stitched into place. 

I can't tell you how excited I am to see the many entries at Jingle Belles - thank you for helping raise awareness for such a great cause!

I have been crafting like crazy the last couple of days - and binge-watching Downton Abbey Season 4 - so when I come up for air prepare for a barrage of posts! lol!

Watercolours & Embossing

Last week I found myself sewing buttons on nearly every card I made - this week my embossing tool got the workout. I challenged myself to play a little more with watercolours - in my case, using glimmer mists - and I used a familiar layout with a favourite stamp set to do that.

Supplies: stamps from Flourishes; Versamark; Black Detail EP; Tattered Angels glimmer mists - Turquoise Blue and Key Lime Pie; green rhinestones from Dollarama

Using the glimmer mists as watercolours is fabulous - not only are they sparkly, and they blend beautifully, but they are already the right consistency for painting. No errors of too much/too little water! After the panel dried, I trimmed it down to card size & adhered it directly to the base, and added a few gems. Ta-da!

Flaming Orange Fairy

It's no secret that I love fairies! As soon as I saw the inspiration photo at Our Creative Corner I knew I wanted to make an orange fairy card, and it's also perfect for the current Fairy challenge at Creative Card Crew. 

Supplies: fairy stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Spiced Marmalade distress ink; Paper Smooches sentiment; Spectrum Noir & Bic markers; Wplus9 banner die; American Crafts yellow glitter; Martha Stewart coarse crystal glitter; Sakura Stardust glitter pen; MME paper

After colouring the fairy, I went over her eyes with the Stardust pen, and her cleavage - and then rubbed it with my finger to smudge it a bit. I coloured the sun & then used the yellow glitter. I find that works much better if using coloured glitter. However, as you can see on the upper right wing, even alcohol markers will affect your glue pen - and transfer some of the ink *facepalm* Scratch paper, Jessi, come on. lol!
